  3. Discussed possible candidates for the Board of Appeals. Four people so far have expressed an interest. One was determined to be ineligible. Selectmen will continue to contact people – the board needs to have five members.

  2. Reviewed and accepted minutes from previous meeting.
  3. Reviewed and signed Warrant # 19 ($73,966.29 )
  4. Answered questions from a resident in regards to a letter he received from the town Auditor.
  5. Reviewed the bank reconciliation report.
  6. The selectmen reviewed the list of foreclosed properties with treasurer Marti Gross. She stated that a couple of the (previous) property owners have made partial payments. As a last effort to work with the foreclosed owners, the selectmen agreed to send a letter to all concerned demanding payment in full by December 31, 2014. All foreclosed properties that are not paid in full at that time will be put out to bid in the spring of 2015. The selectmen feel that this is a fair and final step.

  3. Accepted a $50 donation from Kevin and Jacqueline Hill for the Vienna Fire Department (Basic Operation Account).
  4. Discussed foreclosed properties and a tentative date for opening bids. Selectmen will send out a flyer to all town residents and put a notice in the Kennebec Journal and the Vienna Website.
  5. Discussed with a town resident an issue with ditching on Klir Beck Road. Heavy rains have created issues with some of the ditches near Flying Pond. An on sight meeting is planned for selectmen, Vienna’s road commissioner, a representative from 30 Mile River, and a rep from Kennebec County Water and Soil Conservation to discuss the situation. Due to the instability of the ditches, sand has been washing in to the streams and Flying Pond. (It was determined that rock dams and plunge pools need to be added to the ditches.)

  4. Reviewed the bank reconciliation report from treasurer Marti Gross.
  5. Fire Department Chief Church updated the selectmen on the maintenance of the Fire Station/Community Room and the grant process for the generator.
  6. Assisted residents with reviewing property cards and maps.
  7. Selectmen received and opened two mowing bids:

Bid 1 - C&S Roadwork: $2,500.00
Bid 2 - Don Oliver :        $1,500.00


The bid was awarded to Don Oliver of Chesterville.

  2. Read and accepted minutes from previous meeting.
  3. Chief Church informed the selectmen that the Fire Department will receive a grant from Kennebec Emergency Management Agency to replace the generator for the Fire Station/ Community Room.
  4. Set the date for sand bid. Requests for proposals are out. The Selectmen will open the sealed bids to provide sand for the winter roads at 7:00 pm on October 21 during the selectmen’s meeting.
  5. Selectmen reviewed the written contract for mowing the roadsides and the old town dump. Bids will be opened September 16 at 7:00 PM.
