Beverly Harpine said that Pincushion Island on the northerly end of Flying Pond is for sale. It lies opposite her shoreline property. She asked what is permissible on the island. Waine has received an inquiry about putting a houseboat or a dock in. Richard Flewelling at MMA said we have no existing prohibition against houseboats. He said the Town could pass an ordinance in this regard.
Beverly is concerned about possible excess traffic to the island and about water – related recreation that could be dangerous. She was advised that she could 1). buy the island; or 2). petition the Town to pass an ordinance, and that no existing Town ordinance addresses her concerns, and that Edgecomb may have an ordinance regarding houseboats that might serve as a model. Waine will ask John Archard about pertinent restrictions on waste disposal.
Ed reported on the broadband committee. It received a proposal from a provider who did some work in some Franklin County Towns. Fayette and Vienna are considered underserved. The provider suggested that Fayette and Vienna join forces. They want 180 people from these towns to sign up at $90/month. The Committee is hoping for one or two more proposals.
The meeting adjourned at 8:05 PM.
Creston Gaither, secretary
The Vienna Village Cemetery is located behind the Vienna Baptist Church at the center of Vienna Village.
Burials are available to the residents of the town of Vienna including current seasonal non-commercial property owners or to persons who already have residents buried in the cemetery.
Planning for burial is something most people put off — it can feel like a topic for "someday." But taking even a small step toward these decisions brings real peace of mind, and our members are here to help make that conversation feel approachable.
Contact the sexton, Jim Anderberg (jim.anderberg@gmail.com) or co-sexton Debbie Byrnes (byrnes1973@gmail.com) with any questions

Keep in touch with the progress on providing high-speed internet access to Vienna at the Western Kennebec Lakes Community Broadband Association (WKLCBA) website here
In case you missed the recent Zoom webinar, scroll to the bottom and view a recording.
The WKLCBA is a coalition of six towns collaborating to investigate solutions that provide affordable, reliable, high-speed internet service to our rural communities. Our goal is to improve our regional network to deliver broadband internet to all citizens and businesses, both now and into the future. The participating towns are Fayette, Leeds, Mount Vernon, Readfield, Vienna, and Wayne.
On Monday July 20th there is a meeting about an ongoing project to improve our Internet service. You can attend this meeting from your desk at home! Connect up using your computer and a program called Zoom. Or just call in on your phone. You will be able to listen and also ask a question or voice an opinion. Using your computer won’t cost you a penny. If you call in on the phone there may be toll charges depending on your telephone service plan.
The meeting is being presented by a 6 town co-operative group that has moved a pretty fair ways down the road toward getting high speed Internet installed for everyone in the 6 towns. The Selectpersons in each town have been kept in the loop as the project developed. Now you can learn where the project stands at the moment and the several steps that need to be taken to in the near future to make fast (broadband) Internet a reality in Vienna, Mount Vernon, Wayne, Leeds, Readfield and Fayette. Join us to hear how we are working to get service just as good as they have in Portland!
