The select board emailed a copy of a property card to a realtor for Map #3 lot 73. .
The select board talked with Ed about today's Broadband Meeting and how to get information out to the residents. The following ideas were discussed;
A. Send out a letter on a Vienna Letterhead and mail in the Towns envelopes.
B. Have an informational lunch.
The select board approved having Fitch Heating install a heat pump into the Broadband Central Office. The building will be at the correct temperature for the equipment to operate efficiently.
Mike Rogers reviewed the Towns Property Sales/transfer to set our compliance percentage with our mill rate.
The select board opened three winter sand bids;
i. Castonguay: $7.25 per yard of sand
ii. Robbin Day: $7.25 per yard of sand
iii. Dave Stephens: $6.00 per yard of sand
The contract was awarded to Dave Stephens, out of Belgrade, for $6.00 per yard for winter sand. The Town of Vienna will purchase 1,000 to 1,500 yards this year in order to bring the supply up to 2,500+ yards.

The select board discussed how the Central Office will be started this week and the equipment has been ordered. 4. The select board reviewed a property card for a property the Kennebec Land Trust owns.

Discussed a request from Kyes Insurance Company to inspect the Fire Department and other town buildings. A date will be set and the walk through is expected to take place this month.
The select board met with the Broadband Committee to review the fiber optic progress. The Central Office will be built this month as the electrician and the builder have been contacted.
CMP has started to change the poles in order to prepare for the fiber in which the town will start to put up.
The Winter Sand Bids will open on October 22, 2024 for 1,000 yards of sand and 150 tons of salt.

The select board and Jim Samuelson discussed installing poles alongside the stream road to get power to his house. Jim is hiring IEC to install the poles alongside 1600’ of the Stream Road.
The select board discussed the bulky pick up and how a couple of residents had more out then the cubic footage load.
Bob Grines finished “ pick up” work at this time and will be finishing up the 2026 “ pick up” work early Spring 2026.
The select board discussed accepting Elizabeth Trehu as the Town’s Health Officer. She will be sworn in on August 12, 2025.
It was determined the selectmen’s meeting time will be changed to begin at 6:00p.m. vs. 6:30p.m.

The Vienna Broadband will have an informational meeting on July 15, 2025 at 6:00p.m. located at the Vienna Community Room. All are welcome.

The select board received an email from Michelle Durocher about her concerns with the dumpster at the end of the Klir Beck Road overflowing. The dumpster has been overflowing for a week and she has concerns about animals and pests being brought into the area. Michelle recommended having the dumpster dumped weekly or have it removed to do away with the issue.
The Board reviewed an email from Carolyn in reference to her concerns about her taxes and requested the Board review her property card/taxes.
The selectmen received an email from Brook Sawyer, Map 7 lot 023-100, letting the town know they had removed a building from their property.
(Whenever you make adjustments like removing buildings on your property please let the selectboard know so they can remove it from your property card. The removal of a building will most likely decrease your tax assessment.)

The select board talked with Peg Lang. She has concerns about tree limbs which had been knocked down on the Cumner Road. The Road Commissioner is looking into this.

The select board met with Ed Lawless, of the Vienna Broadband Committee, and Mark Ouellette, from Axiom. A discussion was held on the progress of the project. Consolidated Communication is working on Zone 4 this week and will start on zones 5-6-7 within the next couple of weeks after that.
