Old Business:
At last year's meeting getting information on repairing broken stones was discussed, but no information had been gathered. Helen said there is a Gravestone Preservation Workshop which will be held on August 19, 20, 21 & 22 at the Weld St Cemetery aka Wilton Town Cemetery in Wilton, Maine. Helen will get more information and some of us will attend, one person per workshop day.
Helen is still looking into how long the Association bank records should be kept. She plans to contact the Bureau of Incorporation in Augusta.
New Business:
During the winter Helen discovered a large pile of dirt pushed up against the trees in the old part of the cemetery. She called Jim Anderberg who came to see what had been done and subsequently they contacted the police so a record could be made. There are also tire depressions the length of one plot. After an investigation it was found that someone whom Hewin Roberts Funeral Home had hired for a burial was responsible. The person has been contacted and is supposed to repair the damage.
In other new business Alan Trask has offered the Cemetery Association a piece of land behind church. He will be dividing the remaining land into 2 plots for his nephews. A vote is needed to determine acceptance of his offer.
Helen also said we might consider purchasing a metal detector which would be useful in finding some plot markers.
The meeting was adjourned at approximately 1:40 pm
Respectfully submitted,
Cynthia Pelliccia
