Selectmen's Meeting - Dec. 5, 2017

- The selectmen discussed the issue of the small office being too cold with the new heating system in place. The selectmen are going to explore the idea of putting ceiling fans into the large area, along with possibly adding another heat source into the smaller office space. The need for more electrical outlets was also brought up. Selectmen will discuss these options with the Town House Committee in the new year.
- The selectmen agreed to research other insurance companies to see if there are better coverage rates for the Town properties. Kyes Insurance is our current policy holder.

Selectmen's Meeting - Nov. 17, 2017

- Reviewed and signed Warrant #22 ($154,103.99).
- Dodi reported that the Town House fire extinguishers were services earlier today. All town fire extinguishers have been inspected and serviced for the year. This was performed by Tri State Fire and Safety.
- The selectmen discussed with the road commission about preparation for the winter road maintenance, recent paving and repairs to the roads after the recent heavy rain and wind activities. Mountain Road in particular was mentioned. It was reported that 2000 yards of sand and 265 tons of salt have been put up in prep for winter road maintenance. Selectmen Smith filled our Form 7 and applied for reimbursement from FEMA for money spent of repairs to the town road from the recent storm. The application was filed for approximately $13,000.
- Assisted Ms. Vickerson with reviewing property cards and tax maps.
- Bank Reconciliation report was signed by the selectmen.
- The Fire Department has purchased the new tank for the SCBA packs. The firefighters have taken photo along with a couple of firefighters in full turn out gear. The photo will be sent to the King Foundation with a note of thanks for their generous donation/grant.

Selectmen's Meeting - Oct. 24, 2017

- The selectmen met with Charlie Baeder, representative of Belgrade Regional Conservation about the Kennebec Highlands. They are looking into acquiring a Vienna property. There was a general discussion on the management plan of the Kennebec Highlands. Selectmen discussed the tax exemptions along with tree growth and that the state owned land is exempt from taxes. The discussion went into the abandonment of roads on the Kennebec Highland property. The roads were closed around 1992 to town maintenance but were left open to public access. It was noted that some of the road has been blocked and the selectmen requested that the road be re-opened. The selectmen will be having more meetings with the state before the management plan is updated. The Kennebec Highlands are looking to purchase more property within Vienna.
- Dodi reported that she attended the Ordinance Review Committee meeting on the 19th. Also present were Sue Burns, Jim Anderberg, and Waine Whittier. It was agreed that the committee going forward will have five members including one from the Planning Board. The selectmen are looking to appoint two new members. It was also agreed that there would be no more meetings until a need is determined.

- Warrant #18 was reviewed and signed ($107,568.43)
- The Cumner Road has been paved and work has started on the Davis Road hill. The Road Commissioner has started the removal of the base of the road to replace with a better packing product. The road has always been a clay and rock base. The new base will be crushed stone that will be much better and more stable. This should help maintain the new pavement that will be applied later this month.
- The selectmen reviewed the Bank Reconciliation Report.
- The selectmen worked with a resident in reference to a foreclosure on his property.
- The Cemetery Sexton sold four lots this week. Copies were made of the deeds.
selectmen's Meeting - Oct. 10, 2017

- Read and accepted minutes from the previous selectmen meeting.
- Discussed the need to improve the road in the Municipal Cemetery across from the church on Tower Road.
- The town received the state’s estimated assessment of the town for 2018... $68,600,000.
- The selectmen discussed the guidelines for Bulky Pickup day. The collectors will not pick up building material or tires on rims. Complete guidelines can be found on the back of the Waste/ Recycle Schedule that is inserted in the Town Report. Additional copies are available at the Town House.
Selectmen's Meeting - Oct. 3, 2017
- Reviewed and dispersed the mail.
- Read and accepted minutes from the previous selectmen meeting.
- The Vienna Fire Department received a grant for $7,000 from the Stephen and Tabitha King Foundation. This money will be used to replace the outdated air pack bottles for the SCBAs.
- Reviewed and signed warrant #19 ($20,260.16)
- The selectmen signed the warrant and notice of election for the RSU #9 Budget Referendum. This will be held on October 24th at the Community Center.
- Discussed with a town resident the need to do ditching in front of his property to help prevent the washing out of the town road. The Selectmen will visit the location and come up with a plan; there was further discussion on the road crown and ditching of the road.
- The selectmen reviewed and signed the bank reconciliation report.
- The selectmen voted to except the recommended appendices for the 2017- 2018 General Assistance Ordinance.
- There is an Ordinance Review Committee meeting scheduled for Thursday, October 19th, 6:30pm at the Town House.

Selectmen's Meeting - Sept. 26, 2017

- Read and accepted minutes from the previous selectmen meeting.
- The selectmen worked on the tree growth report.
- Allan Trask spoke to selectmen about one of his properties on Cemetery Road. He provided the selectmen with documentation of a transfer of a portion of that property to the Cemetery Association. This will be included in the changes for 2018.
- The selectmen will be voting on the 2017 - 2018 General Assistance Appendices at the next meeting, October 3rd. This is an annual that allows the town to meet state recommendations.
- The selectmen are looking for a new E911 addressing officer. The person would be responsible for assigning house numbers to the new homes and the upkeep of the records. If you are interested in this position please contact one of the selectmen.
