Selectmen's meeting

  1. Reviewed and distributed the mail.
  2. Signed the 2012 Municipal Valuation Return (State of Maine).
  3. Received a memo from Bernstein Shur regarding amendments to Maine’s Freedom of Access Act. Municipalities are required to designate a public access officer to be trained in the new regulations. Dodi was unanimously designated.
  4. Brian turned in chimney cleaning donations for the Fire Department. He also brought a bill and donation for the new light on the flag at the Community Room. Sign and flagpole have been re-done by John Jones and Heidi Dunn.
  5. Voted to accept General Assistance Appendices for October 2012 for October 2013.

  1. Reviewed and signed Warrant #21.
  2. Received additional chimney cleaning donations from Brian.
  3. Linwood reported that work needed to be done to repair the wash-out on the Besse Rd. from the recent storm. He will be requesting permission from the landowner by Klir Beck Rd. to lengthen the bus/plow turn-around for safely and visibility. He repaired a clogged culvert on Bean Farm Rd.
  4. Reviewed and distributed the mail.

Selectmen's meeting

  1. Linwood reported that work was in progress to repair the wash-out on the Besse Rd. as well as ditching. Another area for repair was at the corner of Trask Rd. and Rt. 41.
  2. Roger came to discuss three concerns:
  • Storage of voting equipment etc. at the Community Room.
  • The floors at the Community Room need to be stripped and sealed.
  • A file cabinet (and contents) belonging to the town needs to be transferred to the Town House.

  1. Reviewed and signed Warrant #22.
  2. Linwood reported that the work on the Besse Rd. has been completed with the exception of placing hay in the new ditches.
  3. Reviewed and distributed the mail.
  4. Received information regarding the possible installation of a cell tower on Besse Rd. The Planning Board has already been notified of the situation and will be holding a public hearing on this issue when more information is available.
  5. Received the 2011 Town Audit.

Selectmen's meeting

  1. Reviewed and signed Warrant #23.
  2. Brian reported the theft of a portable generator from the fire station. A report was filed with Kennebec Sheriff’s office and he has talked with the insurance company.
  3. Changes to the Timber Harvest Regulations from the Department of Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry were reviewed and we are in compliance.
  4. Opened and distributed mail.
  5. Received and reviewed the new ambulance contract for July 1, 2013-June 30, 2014 with Northstar Ambulance.

Selectmen's meeting

  1. Junior reported that the new ditches on Bessie Road were seeded. He patrolled the roads several times to remove branches and debris from recent storms. Junior stated that he will be retiring from the position of Road Commissioner after the March 2013 election.
  2. Selectmen reviewed and dispersed mail.

Selectmen's meeting

  1. Warrant #24 was reviewed and signed.
  2. General discussion about the fiscal budget, etc. for the 2013 Town Meeting (which will be held on March 9, 2013) and the 2012 Town Report.
  3. There will be no selectmen’s meeting held during Christmas week. The next meeting will be held on Wednesday, January 2.

  1. Reviewed and signed Warrant #25 (2012) and Warrant #1 (2013).
  2. Opened and distributed mail.
  3. Received a note of thanks from the Mt. Vernon Food Bank for the town’s annual contribution.
  4. Linwood reported that a couple cars blocking plowing on Davis Rd. and Mountain Rd. had been moved. Two washouts on Mountain Rd. had been repaired. Three trees had come down on Besse Rd. and were removed.
  5. Completed an MMA survey regarding the effect of potential legislation related to commercial vehicle excise taxes.
  6. Worked on the Town Report.

Selectmen's meeting

  1. Began working on warrant for March Town Meeting.
  2. Processed property abatement.
  3. Discussed correspondence received from Crossroads Landfill/Waste Management of Norridgewock. Due to a new state law, effective January 1, 2013, there will be an additional $1.00 per ton fee charged on all construction and demolition debris that is disposed of at a commercial, municipal, state-owned and regional landfills. On January 1, 2014 the additional fee will be $2.00 per ton.
  4. Discussed Governor Lepage’s alleged proposal to ask for municipal vehicle excise tax to go to the state instead of staying in the town.
