Selectmen's Meeting - January 14, 2020

  2. Reviewed and dispersed the mail.
  3. The Selectmen received information that Gary Fuller will resign as code enforcement officer. The selectmen will be looking for a new code enforcement officer to take over his job.
  4. The selectmen discussed the newsletter. Kirsten Heck has been appointed to the position of editor. First edition will be April 1st.
  5. The town has been offered to purchase the property on route 41(known as the salt shed lot) by the Maine Department of Transportation. The state wants $25,000 for the property if the town wishes to continue to use the lot.
  6. The selectmen worked with two residents to find owners of certain properties in town. The residents are hoping to put a recreational trail through the properties.
  7. Stan Webster is the new president of the Franklin Cemetery. He is taking over from Harold Bean who managed the cemetery for many years.

Selectmen's Meeting - January 7, 2020

  1. Reviewed and dispersed the mail.
  2. The selectmen read and accepted the minutes from the previous meeting.
  3. The selectmen received and discussed the Contract with North Star Ambulance Service - $10,197.00 for 2020.

  6. The three-year contract for Winter Roads Snow Removal has gone out to bid. The selectmen reserve the right to extend for an additional 2 years. Bids will be opened at 6:45 on February 25, 2020.
  7. Town meeting will be on the 14th of March.
  8. Election for town officials will be Friday, March 13th from 4:00 to 8:00. Laura Church is running for first selectman. Josh Robbins is running as a write-in candidate for RSU#9 school board representative.

Selectmen's Meeting - November 26, 2019

  1. Reviewed and dispersed the mail.
  2. The selectmen read and accepted the minutes from the previous meeting.
  3. The selectmen discussed winter roads:
    Smaller trucks are being used on the dirt roads. Roads are not freezing up with the warmer weather we are having in the early fall and spring. Roads are soft and are being damaged and the trucks are being damaged from traveling on the softer road. The future years we may need to mix sand with a lesser amount of salt to be used on the dirt roads.
  4. Quickbooks and Staples: Felicia and Chris will be picking up QuickbooksPro for the town treasurer’s system.Staples will install the Quickbooks program into the towns new laptop.
  5. Received the bill for lawn maintenance and cemetery care.from Luke Olson.

Selectmen's Meeting - September 25, 2018

  1. Reviewed and dispersed the mail.
  2. The selectmen read and accepted the minutes from the previous meeting.
  3. Selectmen discussed contracts: The Winter Road Plowing Contract, Off Road Plowing Contract and Waste Removal Contract will all be extended in October.
  4. The selectmen reviewed the list of paperwork requested by the Town Auditor. He is working on the 2017 town audit and works with treasurer Marti Gross, but selectmen provide some of the records.
  5. Dodi worked on the tree growth report for the state which is due September 28th. Residents with property in tree growth will notice that the rate for the different types of wood changes yearly. The tree growth rates (per acre) for Kennebec County for 2018 are as follows:
  • Softwood-$337
  • Mixed Wood-$408
  • Hard Wood-$263

Selectmen's Meeting - September 18, 2018

  1. Reviewed and dispersed the mail.
  2. The selectmen read and accepted the minutes from the previous meeting.
  3. Reviewed and signed Warrant #18  ($73,884.64).
  4. Selectmen will be ordering “truck entering” signs to be put up on the Tower Road near Troy Beans new garage. This is a safety issue with the garage being at the bottom of the steep hill and Troy has requested these signs for everyone’s safety.
  5. Dave Steven was awarded the winter sand contract for 2200 yards at $4.40 a yard. The winter sand will be put up in November. 225 tons of salt will be ordered for the winter roads.
  6. Selectmen voted to accept the MMA General Assistance–Appendices A-F for the period of October 1, 2018 to September 30, 2019.
  7. Chris reported that Dan has graded the Klir Beck Road and Mountain Road and has replaced culverts on the Trask Road and the Kimball pond Road.
