Minutes - Vienna Village Cemetery Association
May 19, 2019
Helen Wilkey called the meeting to order at 1 p.m. Sunday, May 19, 2019 at the Vienna Baptist Church. Those in attendance were Helen Wilkey, Debbie Byrnes, Barbara Gilman, Jim Anderberg, Marie Kohtala, Cindy Pelliccia and Lori Zamboni.
The minutes of the previous meeting held on May 20, 2018 were read and accepted.
The Treasurer's report was read and accepted.
Vote to change the By-Laws: After discussion initiated by Jim, it was voted unanimously to make the following change to the by-laws:
Add reference to Ordinances, Article 5, 1A. - "sextant also will sell plots and provide a copy of the ordinances at the time, and ensure the ordinances are followed."
Old Business: There was discussion about whether a vault would fit in the current sized lot. Jim will find out the vault size vs plot size.
Discussion was tabled.
Helen suggested that we think about getting new members in the future.
New Business: Lory will re-type and send the current By-Laws to members. Debbie had previously sent the older By-Laws to Jim in error.
Helen reported 2 sales, to J. Linscott Ill and Sharon Linscott Nichols.
There are fallen grave stones, Alan Harvill was to have taken a class to repair and reset stones. Helen will call him. Daryl Varney fixed part of the fence.
It was noted that there are dead trees in the back of the old section. Lory will check with Brooks Lawncare in Wilton about it.
Helen asked if the road should be closed in the winter and early spring. Lory explained that the Association could be held liable if access is denied. There are houses on the road past the cemetery that might need services such as fire or rescue units. It was decided not to close the road.
Barbara suggested adding a road through the new cemetery to add easier access to graves. We looked at the map which showed that there's already an area blocked out (in front of the Gilman lot) that can't be sold.
The sign needs to be repainted. Barbara offered to do it at her house. Helen and Jim's phone numbers will be put on it.
Helen noted that she has a lot of the association files. Jim will put the information on the town website. Helen will continue to store the records at her home.
Helen will continue to be in charge of the veteran flags. She already put out the flags this year.
Election of Officers: Voted unanimously to keep the same officers as last year.
