  4. Roadside mowing was awarded to Danny Oliver for $1500.00.
  5. Road Commissioner’s report: Pike Industries has not gotten back to the town about paving. Rain has washed out part of the Bean Farm Road, Bessie Road, and Allen Road. Repairs have been done on all three roads. Varney Road has also been repaired.

  3. Opened three (3) Sand Bids: Meader’s Construction - $3.99 per yard; Castonguay Sand and Gravel - $4.50 per yard; James F. Meader - $4.50 per yard. The job was awarded to Meader’s Construction - 2000 yards at $3.99 per yard.
  4. Winter salt will be $63.01 per ton - a savings of $2.00 per ton from last year. The town will need approximately 250 tons.
  5. Received two (2) Paving Bids: Pike Industries - $118,300.00; Manzer Paving - $75,000.00 The job was awarded to Manzer Paving.
  6. Snow Shoveling Town House and Community Center - extended contract with Troy Bean at the same price as last year - $1,200.00 for the season (45% Town House; 55% Fire Station/Community Building)
  7. Chief Church discussed with the Selectmen the replacement of a forestry pump on the forestry truck. Money to be taken from the Fire Department operating expense account and the FD Capital Expense Account.

  4. Entered into an Executive session with Code Enforcement Officer John Archard to discuss a legal issue regarding code violations on two properties in town. Executive session ended with an agreement on one property and further action to be taken on a second property.
  5. Discussed concerns on the Davis Road: Gash in one culvert caused by the grader and large pot holes at the beginning of the dirt section. Chris will discuss this with the road commissioner so he can repair the culvert and fix the pot holes.
  6. Received from Lenny Meader (D.B.A Meader Construction) his certificate of General Liability Insurance for Winter Road Plowing.
  7. Received notification from Kennebec Land Trust that a foot bridge was built on the Peter Miller woodland property.
  8. Received and discussed the 2013-2014 contract from Waste Management Disposal.

  3. The town will extend the contract with Riverside Disposal for one year with a 3% increase. This will continue our road side pick up and disposal. The (optional) one year contract will be signed at the November 22nd
  4. Maine Fire Equipment Co. Inc. serviced the fire extinguisher at the Community Building, Fire Department and Town House earlier in the week.
  5. Signed the certificated of Appointment for the Town Health officer: This is to be retroactive - Dan Onion was appointed for a three year term in March.
  6. Received and discussed the current county valuation of the Town of Vienna – it is valued at $67,400,000.00.

  3. Read and accepted minutes from previous meeting.
  4. Fire Chief Brian Church reported that the Fire Department has received the new forestry skid. Chimney cleaning has been completed for the year - 24 chimneys were cleaned.
  5. Lenny Meader, snowplow contractor raised concerns about town road being ready for the upcoming winter plowing, i.e. tree limbs and brush over hanging into the road way. The selectmen and road commissioner agreed that we still have some areas that are in need of brush cutting and this will be completed before the winter plowing begins.
  6. Dan Goucher, road commissioner reported that Davis Road has been graded and pot holes have been filled, Varney Road has been graded, Stream Road regraded and ditched.The Road Commissioner is also to have a culvert on the Bessey road replaced and complete the trimming of trees. Patching will be finished within the next couple of weeks.
  7. The Town has received permission from Game Warden Gary Allen to remove the beaver dam in order to replace the damaged culverts on the Egypt pond road. This is to be done with in the next few weeks.

  3. Read and accepted minutes from previous meeting as amended.
  4. Discussion with Dan Goucher, Road Commissioner: Bean Road will be patched and a culvert is to be replaced on the Egypt pond road. Culvert on the Davis Road will be repaired. Cold patch will be finished on the Bean road, Tower Road. Other town roads have already been finished. A portion of the Tower Road has been paved by Manzer Paving. Road Commissioner will be doing some shimming around culverts on the Davis Road.
  5. The Town will be contacting licensed trappers to remove beavers from the following areas: Egypt Pond, Town Park on Flying Pond and Parker Pond.
  6. Signed the Maine Municipal Workers Comp paper work for 2014.
  7. Completed Maine Revenue Services Sales Analysis Report.
  8. The town has received $75.00 from ATC Realty, Inc. for the Permit application for the proposed tower on the Bessey Road. The town also received a $1,000.00 check from Global Tower to be used for any expenses that may come from processing this application. The remainder of money will be returned to the Global Tower Company. A Public Hearing on this Permit application will be held at the Community room on the 20th of November. The meeting will be at 7:00 PM.

  3. Due to the upcoming Holidays the following changes will take place: The selectmen will not meet the week of Tuesday, December 24th or the week of Tuesday, December 31st.
  4. The Selectmen received a request to post information on a currently circulating Citizenʼs Petition (State) on the town website. The Selectmen agreed that this is not the intended use of the website. The individual will be told that he may place a notice in the town newsletter at the going rate.
