selectmen's meeting - December 19, 2023

  1. Reviewed and dispersed the mail.
  2. The selectmen read and accepted the minutes from the previous meeting.
  3. Reviewed and signed Warrant #24 ($44,889.50).
  4. The board confirmed a motion that the selectboard signed a construction and operation contract with Axiom Technologies in accordance with the prior vote and to rectify the exact version of the Agreement that was signed.
  5. The board confirmed a motion to sign the contract with MCA for the grant funding that will be used to build the Vienna Broadband system. All contracts have been signed and the make ready process will be started.
  6. The board discussed damage to the community room roof that happened when a tree went through the roof during the storm on 12/18/23. The repair will be going out to bid.
  7. The board discussed road damage from the 12/18/23 storm. This storm had much more rain and wind than the spring storm however the roads held up much better. At this time, the Kimball Pond Road is washed out near the culvert that crosses the road (near the Berry residence). The Jesse Ladd Road culvert held, however the upper part of the road, received some washing. The Cumner Road was unpassable in places but Dan has been working on all of these. The Davis Road between the Goucher and Mason Road washed out and was repaired.

  2. The selectmen read and accepted the minutes from the previous meeting.
  3. The Selectboard opened bids for installation of a heat pump and bids for the electrical.
    One bid was received for Electrical:
    -Hamlin Electric $620.00
    Two bids were received for the Heat Pump:
    -Webster Plumbing & Heat $12,500.00
    -Fitch Heating $7,719.63
    The Electrical bid was awarded to Hamlin Electric for $620.00. 
    The Heat Pump Bid was awarded to Fitch Heating $7,719.63.

Selectmen's meeting - November 14, 2023

  1. Reviewed and dispersed the mail.
  2. The selectmen read and accepted the minutes from the previous meeting.
  3. The selectmen met via Zoom Meeting with Tyler Collins from Maine Connectivity to review questions and concerns about the proposal from Axiom to cover the initial cost of Roll Out Make Ready.
  4. The selectboard and the Broadband Committee discussed the zoom meeting held with Maine Connectivity.
  5. The selectmen are waiting from the Town’s attorney to provide a revised contract covering the proposal by Axiom.

Selectmen's meeting - November 7, 2023

  1. Reviewed and dispersed the mail.
  2. The selectmen read and accepted the minutes from the previous meeting.
  3. Reviewed and signed Warrant #21 ($114,871.04).
  4. Winter Sand Bids are as follows: Day’s Pit is $6.50 per yard; Castonguay Pit is $7.00 per yard; Steven’s Pit is $5.50 per yard. The Winter Sand Bids were awarded to Steven’s Pit at the bid of $5.50 per yard.
  5. The Selectmen and the Broadband Committee discussed the offer from Axiom to cover the cost of the CMP and Consolidated Communication Ride Out Make Ready, as well as any fees associated. To be reimbursed as soon as Axiom receives the Performance Bond and the town has signed the Grant Contract with Maine Connectivity. The selectboard and Tyler, from the Maine Connectivity, will participate in a zoom meeting to review questions/concerns.

Selectmen's meeting - October 17, 2023

  1. Reviewed and dispersed the mail.
  2. The selectmen read and accepted the minutes from the previous meeting.
  3. Reviewed and signed Warrant #20 ($16,968.99).
  4. Theodor Marshall updated the selectboard on the reimbursement and mitigation from the spring flooding. Theodor is working on getting the town funding to ditch the Mountain Road, Varney Road, along with culvert replacement on the Trask and Jesse Ladd Roads.
  5. There was discussion with members of the Broadband Committee, Mark from Axiom, and the Selectboard about where we stand with regard to executing the contracts with both MCA and
    Axiom. Mark will provide us with additional information before we can sign either contract. Mark committed to providing us with the information within two weeks. Once that information is in hand, the Broadband Committee and Selectboard will prepare a printed update for residents. In addition, the Selectboard voted to give Laura Church permission to sign the contract on behalf of the Selectboard with Axiom and Maine Connectivity.
