Vienna Village Cemetery Association

Annual meeting

Sunday, May 17, 2026 at 1:00 p.m.

Community room at the Vienna Village Fire Station

Minutes

President Jim Anderberg called the meeting to order at 1 p.m.  Attending were

Jim Anderberg, President; Cynthia Pelliccia, Secretary; Lory Zamboni, Treasurer and

Barbara Gilman and Norma Williams, Board of Trustees.

Despite lack of a quorum (Six (6) members are required for a quorum.) the meeting was held with important issues being discussed.

Cynthia read the minutes for our Sunday, May 18, 2025 meeting.  The 2025 minutes were accepted by acclamation.

Lory will provide detailed financial details at a later date. One account has a current balance of $46,000.  Dues ($2) were collected from those present. Jim asked and Lory advised that confusion around a check had been resolved.  Jim announced that 3 (double) plots have been sold to Marianne Archard, Libby Harville and Bob Weingarten.  He will collect the payments soon.

Jim had several items re: upkeep that he wanted to address.

  1.  Flags - There were enough for this year but more will be needed.  He will check with Allan Harville who had gotten some last year.
  2.  Shrub removal – There is a very large shrub/tree next to a grave near the stone which should be removed.  The owners of the plot wish it to be removed.  Darrell had a concern that the roots have gone into the grave.  Last year Darrell had a broken wrist so could not remove the shrub.  Jim will ask Darrell if he can do it this season.
  3. Hole in the small building roof - Darrell was asked last year but due to his broken wrist he was unable to do it.  Jim will ask him to fix the hole.
  4. Grave markers - Mark Hedden’s grave has no marker.  Permanent markers are required for all graves.  Jim had contacted Jesse Hedden without result.  He will find a marker to put there.
  5. New lots – The three purchasers have not yet picked their plots.  Jim will meet with them so that can be done.
  6. Green cemetery – Some of those interested in the cemetery who are not members of VVCA have expressed the desire to have a green cemetery. And there sits the 10.7 acres. (One small lot had been cut out of it.)  At the current time there are not the financial means or volunteers to consider such a move.  This was discussed extensively at last year’s meeting and the current members were not for developing a green cemetery.
  7. Membership, the lack thereof - Jim will update what he had on the website for the meeting and leave it on the website available for anyone to read.
  8. Possible 501c(3).  - Do we need to be?  Jim will discuss more details with Bob Weingarten.

Election of Officers.  The five members present agreed to keep their positions for another year.

The only change was that Caitlin Zamboni wished to be removed from the Board of Trustees.

Officers:  Jim Anderberg, President and Sexton; Debbie Byrnes, Vice President and Co-Sexton (to be confirmed); Cynthia Pelliccia, Secretary; Lory Zamboni, Treasurer; Board of Trustees, Barabara Gilman and Norma Williams.

Date of the annual meeting.  Going back as far as 2008 and perhaps longer than that the annual meeting has not been held on the first Sunday in May.  In 2014 it was held on the last Sunday in April.  Those present agreed to change the wording in the Bylaws to say “a Sunday in May to be determined” rather than “the first Sunday of May.” (Article VI, Section 1)

President Jim Anderberg adjourned the meeting at 2 pm.

Respectfully submitted,

Cynthia W. Pelliccia, Secretary

Addendum: 5/18/26 Jim received a $400 check from Marianne Archard for plot #184.

5/24/26 Debbie Byrnes confirmed that she will remain as VP & Co-Sexton.
