MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE VIENNA
PLANNING BOARD HELD JULY 22, 2026
The meeting began at 7:00 PM at the Town House. Regular members present were
Waine Whittier, Creston Gaither, Ed Lawless, and Tim Bickford. Alternate member Steve Trehu was also present. He was designated a voting member in Alan Williams’ absence.
Minutes of the June 24 meeting were read and accepted.
Waine has not heard from the Swifts or CEO Erin Quimby lately regarding the Whittier Pond situation (see June minutes).
Steve reported on a recent MMA seminar regarding the Maine Freedom of Information Act, where he was told that every Town is required to have a designated Public Access Officer.
A draft which Steve had prepared of a possible Short Term Rental Ordinance based on Fayette’s ordinance was reviewed and discussed at length.
Steve suggested that we add an appendix outlining those regulations that are under State control and not subject to this ordinance.
Waine will ask MMA whether the State already regulates the exclusions listed under “Applicability.”
Ed suggested that we notify the selectmen that we are working on this and solicit any input they might offer. Waine will email them about this.
