Ordinance Review Committee Minutes - Oct. 19, 2017


The Ordinance Review Committee (VORC) met Thursday, October 19th at the Town House at 6:30 pm. Present were Jim Anderberg and Susan Burns, VORC; Dodi Thompson, 1st Selectman; Waine Whittier, Planning Board Chairman

The first discussion item was the VOR Committee makeup, size and tasks. Those present agreed to the expansion of the Committee from three members (one seat is currently vacant) to five and the inclusion of a Planning Board member as one of the three new appointees. The Selectmen will appoint the new members. Meetings  of the Committee will resume after the appointments have been made and a need for ordinance work has been determined.

The second discussion item pertained to Planning Board ordinance work. Waine indicated the Planning Board is considering proposed amendments to Vienna's Shoreland Zoning Ordinance in line with the Maine State Shoreline Zoning Guidelines.

 

The last item involved a general discussion of the referendum and laws pertaining to marijuana. The State has yet to address the law, which may occur either later this year or in 2018.


The meeting adjourned at 7:10 pm.

Nomination paperwork available for town positions - March. 9, 2018

The nomination paperwork for the March 2018 town election is available at the Vienna Town Clerk's office. The town election will be March 9. 2018 followed by the town meeting on March 10, 2018.

Applicants can take the papers out now and return them to the Town clerk no later than 7pm, Jan 24, 2018

Notice of Planning Board public hearing - Jan. 17, 2018

THE VIENNA PLANNING BOARD

Has cancelled its regular meeting for December, 2017 and will instead hold a Meeting on Wednesday, JANUARY 17, 2018 At 7:00 PM at the Town House on Town House Road (Route 41)

At which it will also hold a PUBLIC HEARING regarding possible changes to the Shoreland Zoning And Subdivision Ordinances, primarily regarding The setback requirements imposed by these ordinances.
