Vote to change the By-Laws:

It was voted unanimously to separate the sextant position from the President position.

Old Business:

Helen informed the group that Allan Trask has gifted 10.7 acres of property across the road to the Vienna Village Cemetery Association. The Association has the deed and is responsible for the care of the road up to the end corner of the old section of the cemetery. Allan also requested that no building be erected on the new property. (This is already in the existing by-laws). The previous farmer will continue to hay the field and the Association will be responsible for trimming the grass around the stones. Debbie will send a thank you card to Allan.

New Business:

Helen suggested that in the future we might think about opening plot ownership to people other than what is stipulated in the bylaws. There was discussion about the by-laws. It was agreed to leave them as is for now but think about possibly making changes next year. Jim Anderberg will provide copies at the next meeting for discussion.

It was noted that the funeral companies are responsible for removing extra dirt at the time of burial.

Jim asked why a vault is required for burials other than cremations. Without a vault the ground tends to sink as decomposition occurs. This results in additional dirt having to be applied to the top of the grave. He proposed in lieu of a vault, money be required for perpetual care. Someone will ask other cemetery associations if they require vaults & how they handle "green" burials. Helen suggested that a section of the new plot of land could be designated for burials without a vault. A survey will eventually need to be done, so it could be addressed at that time.

The meeting adjourned at 2:15 p.m.
